The Center For Puppetry Arts Hosts An Interactive Exhibit In Honor Of The Fantasy Film’s 30th Anniversary

It’s been 30 years since Jim Henson’s 1986 cult classic film Labyrinth took fans into the mystical world of the Goblin Kingdom, and the Center for Puppetry Arts celebrates the anniversary with an immersive and interactive exhibit: “Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Journey to Goblin City.”

The display, which opens September 2, features more than 20 never-before-seen artifacts and memorabilia, including the original goblin puppets; a plaster mold of the head of the dwarfen character Hoggle; crystal balls used by David Bowie’s character, the Goblin King; and a slinky black costume Bowie wore in one of the film’s most iconic scenes, complete with levitating, ever-changing stairways. Visitors will also get a peek at behind-the-scenes photography and video footage.

The Labyrinth exhibit kicks off September 2, but patrons who purchased a ticket to the Center’s Labyrinth Masquerade Ball, to be held September 1 in conjunction with the opening night of Atlanta’s Dragon-Con, will get a first peek at the exhibition. Exhibit hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Museum tickets are free to members and $10.50 to non-members, and can be purchased online.
