The story behind the snap: “I walk through Oakland Cemetery often, whether for exercise or to clear my mind or to gather writing inspiration. On different days I’m drawn to different sculptures or tombs, and that day I gravitated toward this somber lion. I felt inspired by the lion’s ability to exude both strength and vulnerability; a reminder that those two characteristics can be a powerful combination when allowed to coexist.”
